       Member Dear Sir,
        G.S.T.

Foundation Member | believe the following information could be of interest to some of
     K.I.G.D.G. your members.

Member On going through my files and using the Internet to pick up as
  Marmon Club U.S.A.
much information as | could about radio stations and radio in
Member general particularly in Australia. | came across the address of
58th/32nd Inf. Bn.Ass. wireless Institute of Australia and as | have a number of my
Inc. 1st Bn. R.V.R. father's records | went through them to see what interest there
was in them for other wireless uses and should be noted that my
      Member
father was one of the early, if not foundation member of the
      N.S.AA.
Wireless Listener’s League of Tasmania which is dated the
25th 1927 with a total membership of 35 and obviously, Hobart
was the centre of wireless at that time, with that | found a copy
of “Means of suppressing radio induction interference”

Relating to that Eeriod my father's Amateur Operators Licence
                          No 470 dated 6™ December 1928 and was signed by J. M.
Martin who appears to be a well-known Radio Inspector of that
day, further on my father obtained an Experimental Licence
dated 29" September 1930 for 25 Watts Valve Transmitter,
                          Valve Receiver.

My father was heavily involved in wireless sets and purchased a
Phone / Fax radio from USA call the Midwest radio direct from the
 (03) 6462 1779 manufacturers in 1934. | remembers the radio quite well plus
the phonograph player in 1936 when he invented a slide to
     & Mot
remove the records after they were thrown off the turntable, note
ehoward@kingisland. the correspondence that I've included dated around 1936 and as
    net.au
a lad of three years old | can remember him trying to perfect the
slide to except the records as they were removed unfortunately
26Moize Soreer they are just about this time his health was deteriorating due to a
((é/m,aé Tl gunshot wound received at Gallipoli.

| always remember him putting up large aerials in the backyard at Lenah
Valley and later at Moonah, painted white they had a unique idea of erecting
from the ground up and were stayed by wire.

| have enclosed an extract from “Howard Pioneers of Tasmania” giving an
idea of Earl’s life and a letter to Mike Simpson who collects sets and
information on Midwest radios and finally our notice to the Community of King
Island.

Hoping this make good reading for you and the members.
