WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY.

MATERIAL FOR HOBART STATION
ORDERED.

MELBOURNE, December 21.

Further developments in connection
with wireless telegraphy are said to be
pending in Australia. The Marconi
Company has given formal intimation
to the Commonwealth Government that
it intends to take such action as may
be necessary to protect its patents.

The Postmaster-General (Hon. C. E.
Frazer) stated to-day that he had
ordered material for four stations, to
be erected at Hobart, Melbourne, Port
Moresby, and Cook Town or Thursday
Island. This was being supplied by
the Maritime Wireless Co. Ltd., Syd-
ney. The contract price for material
was 575 per station, and the cost of
erection, in addition to the price of
the material, would he about 1,000
per station. He added that Mr. Bal-
sillie, federal wireless expert, was to
leave for Hobart later in the day.
