                                              EDITORIAL.
Well, another year is over and soon we will be making
our new year resolutions. I hope one each of us will make it
to write one article for Q.R.M. At the last meeting there was
general agreement that Q.R.i.. should not fold up doe to
increases in costs but that it should be maintained and
include technical articles so please, how about one?!?! you
may post it to P.0. Box 1010 Launcestor and make the editor
extremely happy as there are no reserves of articles at all
at the time of writing. Due to Christmas holidays there will
be no January issue but there will be g February one and the
dead line is January 18th. At this time I would like to thank
Gordon VK7AW for typing the mail wrappers, Lindsay VK7ZLD for
posting Q.R.M., Joe VK7GJ, Frank VK7BC and Graeme VXT7ZAQ for
their monthly articles and the Grade 10 typing class at Cressy
District School for typing Q.R.I.

On behalf of all the people asgociated with the prod-
uction of Q.R.l. and myself I'd like to wish all our readers
a very happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

like some assistance. The mecting asked Graeme VK7ZGG and
Bod VK7ZRT" to form a commttice .to look into all aspects of
production and report to the next meeting .

                      NORTH WEST NOTLS,

The biggest point of dissussion around the branch this month
was the cancellation yct again of the novice licence., One of
our associate mcmbers called on his local nember of parliment,
This rcsulted in a pronise to bring it up zt question time in
the house, unfortunately @ few hours later both houses werc
dissolved. Result--no hope of a novicc e¢xan until Februarye.
Needless to say there are some very irate would be amatcurs in
our branch at thc noment,.

Our Dcccenmber necting is going to be a Ladies Night so
bring the Y L's and X Y L's along for a treat.

                            VHF Notes
At last we have some news for you. Six metres has
opened at least five times in the last week.
John VK7JV and Kevin VK7ZAH bvoth worked VK3ZAZ and
VK3AQN on Saturday 22/11/75 during a temperative inversion,
at the same time Kevin also worked a couple of VK3's on two
metres. The mainland repeaters were also usable during the
weekend t

Getting back to six metres our first opening was to
VK2Z:iY on 18/11/75, the opening lasted about fifteen minutes.
Again on the 13/11/75 we worked VK2BBR, VK47ZBH AND VK4ZRQ,
all in about five minutes. On Saturday 22/11/75 ZL TV was
watchable in colour for about three hours with QSB although
there was no sign of their beacon, ZL4LV was worked by Kevin
and Myself. As I write these notes ZL TV is snow free with
QSB and has been for about an hour but as yet nc ZL stations
have been heard.

Meteor scatter still provides a contact if you have
the patience to exchange a report. While working VK4ZNW
via meteor scatter on 16/11/75 I also heard VK4ZJB calling.
After working VK2ZAY on the 18th we arranged a sked with
him for the next morning. Reports were exchanged at 7.30
localtime

                                  73's Joe VK7ZGJ

Since this report was written there have been many
other copenings on both six and two metres so keep listening.

FET Conversion of TE-20D: fignal Gencrator

                         Gracme seardon VKT4iGG
The TE~20D is r.markakly similar in design to the LSG11
and so makes the conversion very similar to that described
    in AR March 1970.

    1. Remove all wiring and components concelved with the AC
         power supply and filtery network.

    2. remove valveg from sockets. The fets may be mounted on a
7 pin and a ninc pin plug or soldered directly to the board
or the underside - I did the latter.

    3. Change thc 10K on pin 5 of the 64R5 to a IK 4 watt resistor.
    4. Changc the 250K on pin 1 of the 64R5 to a 500K 4+ watt
         resistor.

    5. From pin 2 of thc¢ 64R5 bypass thce 300r rcesistor with a
    100uf 3 volt clectrolytic and a 0.001uf capacitor.

    6. 12BH74 socket.

         Source to pin 2

    8. Replace pilot light with an L.&.D.

    9. Add a ninc volt battery and it should work.

Incidentally during the conversion I had to call on kelp
from Brian VK7ZBY and discovercd that an MPF 105 is no use
    to replace the 6.4R5
also 1, if you use TIS 88's you may need 12 volts instead of
nine volts and 12 volt battiries are hard to comc bye
          2. 4 2N3819 is much better than an MPF102 in pin 6,7,8
                of the 12BH74 socket,
          3. 1 placed the battery undcr the chassis and attached
