TECHNICAL ARTICLES.
Ow Technical Editor W7MI wuld like technical articles for inclusion
in 'th^-s ?ulletln? and he would also like -to have any suggestions for the type
of articles which would be of most interest-bo readers. Siirely we have sone
one who could let us have an i-fcem occasionally,
GORRESPONDENGE.
^'.-We have a-fc least one raember^who reads -fche Bulletin (and Divisional-'•
.
Notes in "Ma-beur Radio" apparently)' and noticed our invitation in last month's
issue,
Le-fc-fcers are printed as received and opinions expressed therein do not
necessarily coincide x.ri.th those of the Bulletin Gonmxi-fctee or Go-Lmcil.
Dear Sir, " ' -
From reading the monthJy News Reporfcs in "Amateur Radio" it seems
that whenever a callsign is men-bioned it mus-fc now be prefixed vri-t'h the
holder* s "handle" instead of "W. Such is not necessaiy and is a uaste
of space, as I es-fcima-be tha-fc half . a coluran more would be*available to print
something more interesting if it. were dispensed yith. The same call often
appears more than once and always prefixed the sarae -way, A horrible
example of this is the first paragraph in our own VK7 notes in June Amateur
Radio where six individual members of Council are mentioned, in all ten
times and in each case the naiaod-s repeated,
Within the State the naaes are already Imoim -bo most, -bhey shoiild
be as they have been mentioned often enough, gnd I wonld think that if
aiyone else does read -these notes he is no-b very concerned whether -the W7
- he does not know is caUed Bill, Chuck or even Marrnaduke, and if he does
know him he probably knows his name aryvay.
If the A, R. R. L. ever gets to hear about -bhis and adopts it for
•their Station Activities section -fchexr inerabership fees would have to go up
considerably to pay for the grea-bly enlarged "QST" that would be needed,
So let us cut out this superfluous nonsense, and on those rare
occasions when it is -thought that the callsign alone is not sufficient
identification, use initials and surname.
Yours e-fcc,
Mo. 7??
(Perhaps the Divisional Sub-Editor would like to comment. G. H.)
