the svent of a fault, Checks should be made whenever repairs are made to -the

3* wir:ulg should be adequately insulated, especially where voltages greater than
500 V are used. Terminals should be suitably protected,
4. Transforraers operating at more than 100 V r. m«s» should be fitted wi-fch an

connec-fced directly across their •fcerminalg* The value of -the bleeder resistor
should be low enough -bo ensure rapid discharge, A value of 1/0 Megohms (where
G is in nicrofaradg) is recommended, The use of earthed probe leads for
discgarging capacitors in case the bleeder resistor is defec-fciva is also
recommended (A "wandering earth lead" or an "insulated ear'bhed probe lead" 5.3

capacitors, such as paper and oil fiUed types, should be stored T.id. -fch their

FINISHING ALUI4INIUM PAtiELS ^ VIC7GH '.
There is now a ^jrinkle finish enamel available in a pressure spray "bin
which gives quite an effective finish -bo panels and other gear. After •fcrea. 'bing
the panel in a caustic soda solution I do any necessary lettering using black
Indian inlc and a lettering stencil and -fctien cover iri-th a coat or tvo of clear
lacquer, Next I stick a pioco of clear cellulose tape over each title, cutting
neatly with a razor KLado so iha-fc it just covers the lettering. The panel is
then sprayed ·tfri.th -bhe ananel and. when tho sniall pieces of -bape are removed, the
black lettering, each -bi-fcle on a siaail oblong of aluminiua. background, looks

ON FJ3LISHING TIE BULLET IN.
Publishing the Bulletin is no gUsnic.
If we print jokes people say that we are childish and sillyj if we don't
we are -too serious and dull,
If we don't accept contributions, VQ don't appreciate genius^ if VQ print
the stuff the Bulletin is full of unadul-bo rated junlc,
If we edit a scrip we are too critical and insult +. ho in-belligsnce of the

If we "lif-b" material from other papers, we are -boo idle -bo wite blurb
ourgelves,' if we don'-fc, complaints are heardl that the views of the Editor are a
bore and get monotonous.
If we think up a technical article, we are ignorant morons who don't
know vh.Q.t, we are -talking gbou-b? if we don't there is a scream from t-he longhaired
gentry who maintain -t/hat it is our duty to scan the literature and repor-fc on
pertinent developnen-bs in the araateur field.
If we refer to GW we are anti phone, and any referonco to W. sends the
SSB fra-fcerni-fcy into a sulk sessionj if we nQntion SSB then the AM followers say
we ha.ve gone all hoity--fcbity,
