        •Facts on Feedlines. -by G. G. ' Jobnston •B, Sc.
At one'stage or another every person wi.th a serious in-beres-fc in radio is
confronted with the problem of "fcsw to match their feedline into their new
antenna". Most handbooks provide data on input impedances of various •types of

coax. of x 6&m. s charac-beris'bic irapedance'is necessary. As aany have found tihe
cost of purchase of this "x ohms" fe'edline is often out of propor-fcion m.-th that
of -the project in hand. It is in an a-b-bempt to alleviate the woriy_and distress
symp-fcons so often seen upon such a discovery whether made \y the XIL or CM himself,
that this short note is being writ-ben. Perhaps i'b w3. il assist you -bo'use -bha'b

The conductors of a feeder cable possess distributed self-resistance
(R, ohms per metre), self inductance (L, henries per metre), shunt capacitance

1 Generally speaking coasdal cable covers "bhe range 50 -bo 250 ohms and tmja

cable of inpeJance Zo, <n ^/ZqZo between the feeder of impedance Zo and -the
