A Hew Im roved VBF . Transistor Su or-re en. Rr. ?^'-€ver.
This unit has teen built anc^ rested by Barney Watson "VK7ZAK, _and the
results obtained have indica-bed -bha-t its sensi-bivi-ty is.. equal to_or be-fc-ber
than the usual tube type super-regen. The whole unit CQU be buil-b into a
veiy small package,, using. either headphones or a small inbyu.it> speaker. If
•bhe imi-fc is in-bended-for--brgnBmit'ter hun-fcing, it is advisable -bo •cons-bru. c-fc it
in a shielded box, so that only the signal pressnt. from the aerial is d. e-bected.,
and no signal enters directly- into the circuit to confuse the hunter,
Gonstru. ction is stx-aightforTOrd, using nomal -bransis-fcor wLring methods.
The unit wuld bes-fc"be'"bm.l-b on a "inatiix", board.
The audio outpu-b is fed into a coraraercial transi.st,or. audio amplifier
board a "Lafaye-b-fco'.Type EK. - 5-/i3", 'but here again numerous . commercial or homa
brew uni'ts -would •s. uffioe. •
This unit should find many uses in and around the- ham"shack and be the
ideal receiver for hidden transmit-ber hunts and hamfosts. ' If anyono builds
i-b and strikes -trouble or is just. no-b sure where -the 144. mc/a band is, any
of the VHF boys would b'e glad -bo help o-at

previous years. The rules will Tse found in another seo-bton of the Bulletin.
