       TECHNICAL by Ken №eGldon.
A Sim Ie PoN. Po Transistor and Diode Tes-fcero

All parts for this instrument can be easily ob-fcained from the " Junk Box ",
The main use of this instrument is to raeasiire the leakage Curren-b and the
       Gain of the Transistor,

There should te an apprecia'ble difference between leakage and Gain readings.
Leakage is measured in aicro Mps. For a good Transistor the leakage cu-rrent
should not exceed' an absolute maximum of 100 uA» the lower this reading
       or current , the 'be'tter<>
Leakage Current v/ill be, or should be, negligable , and can possi'bly be
seen by operating the ON ~ OFF switch. Should "the leakage curren-t be
       excessively high, transistor is faulty,
       Gain is measured in milliamus x mul-t. factor : mul't* factor = Vo3ita e
                                                                                                     Base Besis-tor

In the case of the circuit givon9 tho base resis-tor is 100k ohr.ls and the

voltage 3voltSt By applying -the given values, using the above formula we
get 33u.A; therofore -the multi fact, in this case is 33*
Thereforo; if 3"A is shovm on neter x mul-bi factor (33) = Gain
                             Gain = 33 x3 5 Transistor gain = 99«
The gain of a Transistor is measured while gain button is pressed*

Should the gain of a transistor be greatly down on -the quoted value in the
Data book, -the -transistor is to be suapeoted. But, tear in mind, -transistors of
identical typgs, may vary in charao-fceristics.

To test a Diode, connect Cathode "bo Collector terminal, and Annodo to
Emitter terminal and switch on. If Diode is OoK« oiu-rent. will flow9 and
with reverse conneotions curren-fc will not flow*
