V. H. F. Supplement August-1964. By VK7ZAQ
The July meeting of the V. H. F. Group wa's held on Wed 22nd , and
took the form of as film evening.
As usual for this time. of the year, very little to report about
V. H. F. activity in the South.
52 mc/s
At the moment, only 4 stations a3:e on the new 6 MX band,
52-54 MC/S , in Hobar-t; these being 7zAx , 7ZAI, 7ZJG and 7ZAQ.
Several others who were on 6 Mx. previously have not yet appeared
on the new allocation. A new station due-on the band shortly is Ken
7LL. The band is. usualy open for a few days a week or so either
side of the short&st day, but so far this year nothing has been
worked.
144 MC/S
Activity has dropped to its low winter ..levels in Hobart, Guess
we will have tooblame the weather. A new station is Ken, 7LL on 146.5
Ken is interested in'A. T. V. and should have. some gear for same in
operation before -boo long. A signal , believed to be from 7ZBM at
Tarraiahh, was beared by lan 7zz , a week or so ago. A fe^ definite
skeds in this direction would prove interesting.
North I'Vest Zone Notes by Winston Nickois, 'VK73AJN .
Although there was a poor attendance at the last meeting. those
present found the^recorded lecture by. John Macey very interesting.
Reg, 7Z/-\0 has now fired up from his new Q. T. H. , a'nd is putting a
5/8. signal into Burnie and V'/ynyard from Devonpor-t. Kevin, 7ZnH, has
aimmost completed his new mobile rig; and Bob, 7ZnA is well on the
way with his. Mike, 7ZAV, is installing his beam on a small hill
behind his flat and hopes to Workcalong the coast with good reports,
Neville, 7Z..^E, has overcome his modulation trogbles and is now puts
out a good signal.
Everyone wishes Bruce Kelly good luck in the forthcoming A. O. C. P.
exam. associates Peter Chalk and Gerald V'Jade are busily constructing
tape recorders and studying for the A. O. C. P. exam.
That is all for this month chaps,
73, 'V'Jilf, VK7ZAQ
