BAI№EST i
Your Presiden-b has su.'bnitted -the . following on the above topic,
Our third Baafes-b was again qui-fce sucoQssful, A few enthusiasts arrived on. the
Friday night, a greater nunber on Saturday, and the Sunday provided a day -trip
for a'bou. 1 30 people.
This noans that any organisa-bion usually falls on Sunday, and where
people are oeeting people whoa they have not seen since last Eaj-.ifest are not
partial to organisation. However a " foo-b - noMle " 3»5 no. hun-fc was held. and.
was won by Associate D. Marsland pilo-fcing Terry, VK7CT, a prospec-bive neQber
Phil liicksher and. Terry's gear •
Tho 144nc. hunt was won by Bevan Waldron fron Launces-fcon. Both winners were
presented with trophys donated by Philips Eleo'tnoal*
Gear was auo-fcioned, given away and otherwise disposed of, -fcransforner cores EBT
type froa a well known HQ^Q of TV receiver were there for -the •taking* A certain
Galaxy 3 also recoivod auch adi-iira-fcion - i-fc v/as worked too SU
I believe that the owner gave up suoking and eating, or one or the o-bher to
save up and buy the unit. He is absolutely, and obviously doing both again now
as there is still plenty of hin - good luck Den.
ACKNOv^EDGEriEKTs
Vfe owe a vote of thanks •to Philips Elec-trioal, 73 Brisbane St,,
Hobar-b for the -fcrophys. Philips have been assoGia-bcd with u.s on each oooasion
now and it is suggested that when nen'bers need parts, resistors, oondonsers,
valves, etc for new gear or ropla. cerjent, rooca'ber our friends in Brisbane St*
Call and arrange with Sooff D'Eaden, VK7ZAS or lan Cairnduff ( ex Sienals )"
for their purohasos* If you are unable to call, writo and your order will be
dealt with saartly and c-UTangenonts aade for paynen-ta Try thoa, and give
Philips sone business in return for their generosity to -the Instituto.
15y spies -tell ne -bhat a CGr-tain Southern gentleaan returning fron -the Haafest
freo - wheeled up all the hills - taking -three ( 3 ) hours to re'bur'n to Hobart.
Strictly for -the. 'bird(s) I'd say - he is also an expert in finding hidden
table drains - siaply throws hiaself in, giving -bheir loca-tion aos-t desorip-fc -
ively with plenty of Audio gain.
Would all r-iea'bers who borrowed " 73 nagazines " at the last general nee'ting
please be sure to re'burn sar-ie to Ii.Ir. R. L. Gunther at -fche Janiiary neeting - -thanks.
At the risk of being tiresone, I again repeat that 14"os appears to be nore
lively this Sunner ( ? ) I even worked a VK3g short skip the other night.
S»S»B. is very proainen-fc, with good strong signals - AoMo is -fchere 'but one
notioes the lack of punch in the signals coapared. with the o-bhor ciode.
At the risk of being olo№ered by -fche ori-tica - a good argunent for S. S. B -
also the lack of hetrodynes could "be another - Ed*
