WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY
On Saturday, Mr. Dowsett, the representative of Marconi's
Wireless Telegraphy Company, arrived from Melbourne by
the steamer Flora, accompanied by Mrs Dowsett and two
assistants. Their mission is to erect at East Devonport
the apparatus which will allow the interchange of
messages by this modern system between Queenscliff and
Devonport. A six month's experiment by the company will
be made to demonstrate its efficency, with the view of
the Federal Government inaugurating a service between the
mainland and Tasmania.

WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY
Captain Walker, of the Marconi Co., arrived here on
Saturday night, to inspect operations for the erection of
the wireless telegraphic station at East Devonport. It is
the first time Captain Walker has seen the site and he
expresses himself thoroughly satisfied with it. Both
stations will be ready for exchange of messages in about
a month's time, and it is expected that the Governor, Sir
Gerald Strickland, will visit Devonport and send the
first message.

WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY
On paying a visit to the Wireless Telegraphy Station at
East Devonport yesterday, an "Advocate" representative
was informed that everything was progressing favourably.
The majority of the wire fixings had been completed, and
it was thought that the end of the week would probably
see the balance of the wires fixed up. This stage arrived
at, some time would have to be spent in arranging details
between this station and the station at Point Lonsdale,
near Melbourne. It is not yet known when the first
wireless telegram will be despatched. Mr. Dowsett expects
to leave for the Point Lonsdale station today to attend
to minor details.

WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY
It is stated that the first official message in
connection with the Marconi Wireless Telegraph Station
here will not be despatched till some time in June. The
delay is understood to be owing to the fact that it will
not be convenient for the Governor-General to visit
Queenscliff before June. The first message will pass
between Sir Gerald Strickland, the Governor of Tasmania,
and Lord Northcote, Governor-General of Australia.
