Hi Eric
Nice to hear from you.
Our 20th anniversary has just passed. 20th March 2002.
VK7DIK Dick and myself were the only two radio amateurs driving the project and in attendance at the school. The contact also featured in the Western Herald newspaper as well as a news feature on ABC tv, WIN news and Southern Cross.
The contact itself was the first DIRECT ARISS contact for Tasmania with astronaut Carl Walz.
Carl has since retired from NASA but as far as i am aware he is still alive as i heard from him last year.
The equipment used was an Icom IC251a (purchased from Joe VK7JG) driving an amplifier, an Alinco DR119T, the antennas were homemade 4element crossed yagi to a modified AZ/EL security camera mount as the rotator and a home brew circularly polarised lindenblad antenna for back up.
Dick VK7KVB (DIK) set up the pc and monitored tracking of ISS, Dick also looked after Audio recording.
Regards

Shane Lynd ex VK7KHZ.
